Drvenik to Jelsa

After a good breakfast at the hotel we rode about a kilometer to the ferry. We didn't have much time to spare and the ticket queue seemed interminably slow, but we made it ok.
After a pleasant half hour ferry ride to Hvar Island we started our ride with rain threatening. We got most of the first climb done before the first heavy shower hit, and rode most of the rest of the way to Jelsa in the rain.
With 13km to go we encountered serious roadworks that continued for 8.5km. The first 1.5km was steep and rough stony road base, necessitating pushing the bikes on foot uphill.
The next 5km was just rideable but very slow going. Our brakes and gears were pretty suss due to water and grit.
We arrived in Jelsa very cold, wet, and hungry. Coffee, pizza, hot chocolate and hot showers helped a lot. Jelsa is a lovely seaside town. We can highly recommend Napollello restaurant - baked goat's cheese entree, scampi, chicken & sesame, semifredo & limoncello -yum.
