Matavun (Skocjan Caves) to Ljubljana

We arrived at the Skocjan Visitor centre to strains of a Slovenian piano accordion band. It was very jolly & Bavarian-like. The cave system is huge and extensive. But the most exciting bit is definitely the raging river running through at the bottom of the huge chasms. We definitely caught glimpses of Gollum & some orcs, but you'll have to take our word for it cos they wouldn't allow you to take photos.
After the cave tour we walked back to our penzione for our bikes, luggage and chocolate mousse, excellent apple strudel and coffee, and rode into Divaca for a picnic lunch and caught the train for Ljubljana.
Unfortunately the train had stopped so that the bike carriage was beyond the platform, necessitating lifting the bikes up from ground level. In the process Tracey's mirror was cracked.
A short ride from Ljubljana station along bike paths and across the Dragon Bridge brought us to the car-free old city centre, and we found our accommodation next to the river and a few steps from the Triple Bridge. After a beer by the river we checked in to our very tastefully decorated room.
